Lyon (Labnews Media LLC) – The prefecture of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region has updated its roadmap for tackling PFAS pollution for 2026. As reported by actu-environnement, long-term mobilization against these so-called "perennial pollutants" remains a central concern for the authorities.
The revised roadmap retains the four priority objectives from the previous year: reducing pollution at the source, ensuring a compliant drinking water supply for the population, strengthening food monitoring, and supporting research and controlling occupational exposures.
The prefecture has reviewed the measures taken so far and emphasizes that addressing the PFAS contamination requires an ongoing effort. The updated strategy serves to continuously coordinate all relevant stakeholders throughout the region.
PFAS are considered particularly persistent chemicals that are difficult to break down and can contaminate water, soil, and the food chain. The updated roadmap aims to systematically continue and further develop previous efforts.
