World Mosquito Day: Danger from imported mosquitoes grows
On World Mosquito Day, August 20, the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) highlights the growing threat posed by mosquitoes in Germany. Due to climate change – with rising temperatures, milder winters, and altered rainfall patterns – invasive mosquito species such as the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) and the Asian bush mosquito (Aedes japonicus) are establishing themselves in Germany.
